As a teacher, I aim to make my teaching inspiring and engaging for students of all ages and abilities personalising lesson plans to their specific needs.
Whether you're a complete beginner or an advanced player, I strongly believe that it's important to contextualise what I teach therefore I have my students playing music from the very beginning, whether that's as a duo or to a backing track.
With over 13 years as a practitioner, I have gained valuable experience in the music industry including national and international performances as a leader and sideman with projects including the Leeds College of Music Big Band, Contemporary Jazz Orchestra and the ‘Fergus Vickers trio’ and other professional original and tribute bands. My work in the music industry has given me the opportunity to perform in multiple genres and playing styles.
“Fergus Vickers is a great, friendly and well-organised guitar tutor. He sets a good example with his playing abilities and attitude regarding music.”– Chris Dougill
With 5 years of further education in music I have not only gained an extensive portfolio of qualifications but I have developed a high level of instrumental proficiency and personal musicianship which allows me to teach Guitar and music theory to an advanced level.
Having completed various computing and music technology qualifications I am keen to apply this to my work as a teacher by finding ways to help students through the use of technology. Whether you want to work towards your grades, study theory, improvisation or simply want to play your favorite songs, I can help you achieve your goals as a guitarist!
I would be more than happy to teach you to play the guitar, to book your first lesson or to simply find out more about his guitar tuition don't hesitate to get in touch by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or call 03455 086739.
